Hillsong Band - Capturing the Hearts of People Around the World

I have been listening to Hillsong music since 2000 and I have been hooked on listening to almost all their albums. No one can deny that in the Christian world, Hillsong music has made such mark and has touched the lives of many people.



Yes, Hillsongs is the most travelled Christain band going around the world to share their passion for God and their music. The group has released several albums and these are being sold in music stores in various countries. They have also done concerts that feature their praise and worship music and have toured several continents.

Hillsongs United has a combination of slow and fast-beat tracks that have captured the hearts of Christians of all ages and of different denominations.

But most specially their music genre have been so popular among the younger generation because of their upbeat tracks that are better alternatives to the obscene pop dance music.


Here I Am To Worship is a great song about surrendering to God in worship. This song acknowledges God's power over everyone. This slow praise song can make a person hum as he or she listens to the song. The coda portion also has a very deep message especially for people who are asking for forgiveness and conversion. It says "I never know how much it cost to see my sin upon that cross. Call upon the name of the Lord and be saved," repeatedly until the song ends.

King of Majesty song begins with the lines, "You know that I love You, You know that I want You." The refrain plays, "King of majesty, I have one desire, is to be with You, my Lord," and "Jesus, You are the Savior of my soul, and forever I give my praises to You." Those who would like to praise God through hip tunes are surely taken by the great lyrics and arrangement of this song.

Now That You're Near is a song with several arrangements, with the rock versions being one of the most popular. "Hold me in Your arms, never let me go, I wanna spend my eternity with You," says the refrain.

Hillsong Unlimited Vocalist – Darlene Zschech

When I first saw the live DVD concert of Hillsong Unlimited, I was mesmerized by how the worship leader and female lead vocalist sang the songs.

Her love for the Lord is so evident. It seems like she is not performing to the great audience. She is wrapped in worship of God and what I see is not a performance but a woman who love God so much and her love for God overflows.

Yes, Darlene Zschech is simply amazing.

How God have used her to touch the lives of many people is really evident. I praise her Maker first and foremost. And I honor the person, Darlene Zschech, in my heart.

Who is Darlene Zschech?

I did some time to do some research and I hope I have done some justice by writing this article about her.

Darlene Zschech is one of the most well known Hillsong’s musicians. She was the composer of Shout to the Lord, one of the famous Christian songs in the world.

She is the former worship pastor (1995–2007) of Hillsong Church and is the longest-serving member of Hillsong's Worship Team.

Recently, Darlene and her husband Mark became the new Senior Pastors of Hope Unlimited Church on the Central Coast of NSW. But until now she still continues to be a vital part of Hillsong church and remains a key member of the Church's Senior Leadership Team alongside Hillsong's Senior Pastors Brian & Bobbie Houston.

Zschech continues to lead worship at key Hillsong events throughout the year. She is still part of the Executive team for both the Colour Your World Women's Conference and Hillsong's annual conference, Hillsong Conference.

Aside from joining concert tours with the Hillsong Team around the world, Darlene Zschech still remains the Senior Lead Vocal on all of Hillsong's annual Live Albums and many other Hillsong songs, including recently Hillsong's newest Single, It is Well with My Soul.

Hillsong Music - Brief History

The success of hillsong Music has been so phenomenal. Aside from its great lyrics, great melody and annointed singers and performers, the songs have touched million of lives and enflame the heart of many to once again follow the Lord.

Despite of the heights of the success of Hillsong band, many are not aware of how hillsong music started. Where did it all began?


Here is a brief history of Hillsong Band.


Hillsong Music exists to champion and resource the cause of the local church worldwide. Birthed from the vision of Senior Pastors, Brian and Bobbie Houston their small church in the northwest of Sydney, Australia began in 1983, and has grown to become an internationally recognised congregation.


Hillsong recorded its first album in 1988, and has since recorded 18 live albums, and numerous kids and youth albums - distributed in close to 90 countries and territories around the world.


The Hillsong Creative team is led by Joel Houston and Reuben Morgan, and is made up of hundreds of dedicated singers, musicians, songwriters, and production volunteers. The team gives of their time and energy each week at church, with the ultimate goal of leading people into an atmosphere of dynamic, powerful, and personal praise and worship. It is this dedication that is reflected on the albums year after year.


Senior Pastor Brian Houston says of the success of the music "All we've ever done is just have church. This is what God has anointed us to do. It's about reaching and influencing people. The worship is what it is because of the spirit of the church. The songs reflect the heart of our church."


More than a decade ago, a group of young people from Hillsong Church, involved in the Creative team, were naive and passionate enough to believe that they could make a real difference for God on the planet.

Today, they are Hillsong United; a music group phenomenon grounded in the local youth ministry of Hillsong Church. HILLSONG MUSIC - Through the Years


Hillsong Music Australia is the resource arm of Hillsong Church, a rapidly growing Church in Sydney, Australia pastored by Brian and Bobbie Houston. Hillsong Church (formerly the Hills Christian Life Centre) had its first service on 14 August 1983 with a congregation of 45 people meeting in a high school hall.


From its humble beginnings as a single desk operation, HMA has grown to the dynamic music label it is today.


"Hillsongs" as it was originally called recorded its first album in 1988. 'Spirit And Truth' was a studio recording featuring eleven songs. The sphere of influence of this album was the church and a few friends of the church. From there, came 'Show Your Glory' in 1990. Also a studio recording, this was the first album to be marketed and distributed outside Australia, edging its way into the European market.


'Hillsongs' operated from a one room office based from the church for some years but as it began to grow, the marketing and distribution of the resources was taken on by Christian Marketing Australasia.


In time, the music began to become more established and the annual Hillsong Conference rapidly grew. As the popularity of the music spread throughout Australia and beyond, various distribution companies around the world began to seek after the distribution rights to the music in their territories. Today, Hillsong Music is distributed in close to 90 countries and territories worldwide. The music has also been translated into a number of languages the world over.


In July 1997, Hillsong Music Australia took over the Australian marketing and distribution responsibilities. HMA now distributes directly to all Christian retail stores nationally.


In January 1999, Hillsong resources were released into the mainstream Australian market by Warner Music Australia. Then in July 2003, an agreement was entered into with Sony Music Australia to distribute the Hillsong Live albums into this growing market sector.


Every week letters and emails are received telling of the impact Hillsong Music resource is having in people's lives. From every corner of the earth the music coming out of this 'local church from Down Under' is impacting people in ways that only God can be glorified for. What a privilege to work in partnership with Him.


In 1992 we recorded our first live recording The Power Of Your Love, followed in 1993 Stone's Been Rolled Away which was our first live album to also be captured on video. This paved the way for a new live praise and worship album annually.

Hillsong Music is a phenominal Christian music that touches the lives of millions of people all over the world.

It started from the humble beginning as Christian music produced by Hillsong Church in Sydney, Australia. Hillsong albums are released and distributed by Hillsong Music Australia.

The most famous worship leader and vocalist who is also a senior pastor of the Church is Darlene Zschech.
Their first live worship album is entitle "The Power of Your Love" and was released in 1992.

Since then, Hillsong live praise and worship music albums have been produced each year.
